Backlog

This data, sourced from the Department of Home Affairs, offers a snapshot of the current backlog for skilled visas, helping applicants assess their chances of receiving an invitation.

Understanding the Backlog Data

  • The backlog data represents the number of EOIs in SkillSelect at a given point in time.
  • EOIs with less than 65 points are not displayed in the dataset.
  • If a count is less than 20, it is shown as "< 20" for privacy reasons.

This information allows users to evaluate the level of competition for their selected occupation under the Skilled Independent or State & Territory Nominated visa programs.

What is the Backlog?

The SkillSelect Backlog section in Anzscosearch shows the number of EOIs submitted for skilled visas at a specific date. This data helps users understand the current demand for their occupation in the visa pool.

Visas Covered in the Backlog

The backlog data includes EOIs for the following visa subclasses:

  • Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) – A permanent visa that does not require state/territory nomination.
  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) – A permanent visa requiring state/territory nomination.
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491) – State/Territory Nominated – A temporary visa for regional Australia.
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491) – Family Sponsored – A temporary visa for applicants sponsored by an eligible relative.

EOI Statuses in SkillSelect

An Expression of Interest (EOI) submitted in SkillSelect can transition through different statuses based on its progress:

INVITEDThe applicant has received an invitation to apply for a visa.
LODGEDA visa application has been submitted using an invitation to apply.

This backlog information is updated based on SkillSelect data and provides insights into the number of applicants in the pool, helping users evaluate their potential chances of receiving an invitation.

Total Count of EOIs in the System

In addition to displaying the backlog data for specific occupations, we also provide the total count of EOIs in the SkillSelect system for the following visa subclasses:

  • 189 Skilled Independent Visa – A permanent visa for skilled workers that does not require state or employer sponsorship.
  • 190 Skilled Nominated Visa – A permanent visa requiring nomination by an Australian state or territory.
  • 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa – State/Territory Nominated – A temporary visa allowing skilled workers to live and work in regional Australia with state or territory nomination.

These total EOI counts offer a broader perspective on the level of competition across different visa programs and help users evaluate the demand for skilled migration in Australia.
